Hawaiian Style has been on Thai shelves since 1995, and today it is in more than 14,000 shops across the country. That is a lot of shelves — and it also means no two of them carry quite the same bottles. Here is where to look, which route is surest when you want one bottle in particular, and the one number on the pack worth checking.
In a shop
The household names are 7-Eleven, Tops, Gourmet Market and Foodland, alongside the big department stores and malls and a great many local pharmacies. The complete, current list — with every store’s logo — is the where to buy directory on our homepage. That directory is the one we keep up to date, so treat it as the list of record rather than anything you read here.
Why one branch has it and the next does not
Shops stock sun care where sun care sells. At 7-Eleven that means the range is widest in beach and coastal areas, across the South and in Bangkok; inland and upcountry branches carry it less consistently. Even within those areas the selection varies by store — one branch may have the tanning oil but not the SPF 50, the next the other way round. If the branch in front of you has the wrong bottle, the bottle you want is very likely a branch away, or online.
Online, from our official stores
When you want one particular bottle, the surest route is one of our official online stores:
- Shopee — official stores in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines, so buyers in those three other countries can order locally rather than pay to ship from Bangkok.
- Lazada — Thailand.
- TikTok Shop.
Direct links to every one of them are in the where to buy directory. Ordering directly from this website is not open yet — until it is, the shops and official stores are the way to buy.
The number worth checking: อย.
Cosmetics sold in Thailand are notified to the Thai Food and Drug Administration — the อย. — and each notified product carries a notification number. Every one of our product pages lists its number. If you want to be sure the bottle in your hand is the formula described on this site, compare the number on the pack with the one here:
| Bottle | Thai FDA notification no. (เลขที่จดแจ้ง อย.) |
|---|---|
| Coconut Tanning Oil SPF 2 | 13-1-6700023061 |
| Classic Tanning Oil SPF 2 | 13-1-6700023063 |
| Tanning Lotion SPF 4 | 13-1-6700028419 |
| Coconut Tanning Lotion · Glitter SPF 4 | 13-1-6700029580 |
| Sunblock SPF 15 PA++ | 13-1-6700031848 |
| Sunblock SPF 35 PA++ | 13-1-6700028421 |
| Sunblock SPF 50 PA+++ | 13-1-6700023034 |
| Aloe Gel | 10-1-6100038575 |
| After Sun Lotion | 10-1-6100038297 |
You do not have to take our word for the numbers either. The Thai FDA lets anyone check the status of a number themselves — through the ORYOR Smart app, the LINE account FDAthai, or the websites oryor.com and fda.moph.go.th.
Before you pay
- Pick the right bottle for the job. A tanning oil is not sunscreen, and the four tanning bottles are SPF 2 and SPF 4 for a reason. Which Hawaiian Style is right for you? sorts the whole range in five minutes.
- Notice where it has been kept. Heat speeds up how quickly sun care breaks down, so a bottle that has lived in a sunny shop window or the back of a hot car is not the same bottle it was. More in does sunscreen expire?
- Check the ingredient panel if you have an allergy. Every product page carries the full list. The After Sun Lotion, for one, contains peanut oil.
