For anyone who wants colour without the slick of an oil. A light, water-based lotion in a green aromatic scent — crisp rather than sweet — that absorbs matte, so it will not print onto a towel or a car seat. It does not tint skin on contact either — no bronzer, no self-tanner — the colour is the sun’s.

What it is
A proper emulsion rather than an oil — water first, then filters and emollients held together with Cetearyl Alcohol and PEG-20 Stearate. That is why it sinks in and leaves skin matte rather than glossy.
It runs three filters — octocrylene, ethylhexyl salicylate and a little titanium dioxide — which together give SPF 4. Higher than the oils, and still nowhere near sun protection.
How it smells
Green aromatic — the same scent family as our Classic Tanning Oil. Fresh and herbal rather than sweet, closer to crushed leaf and stem than to coconut or vanilla, and it does not turn sugary as it warms.
Worth knowing if you were expecting coconut: this formula does contain Cocos Nucifera Oil, but it is there to condition the skin rather than to scent the lotion. For the coconut smell, that is the Coconut Tanning Oil or the Glitter lotion.
How to use it
Apply to clean, dry skin before you go out.
Work it in properly. Unlike an oil, a lotion shows where you missed once it dries.
Real SPF on the skin you are protecting — this is not it.
Reapply every two hours and after swimming.
What is in it
A lotion needs more ingredients than an oil: the emulsifiers and stabilisers that keep water and oil in one bottle account for most of this list.
Octocrylene · Ethylhexyl Salicylate
The two organic UV filters. Together with the titanium dioxide they add up to SPF 4.
Titanium Dioxide · Alumina
A mineral filter with its usual surface coating, which stops it clumping in the emulsion.
Cocos Nucifera Oil
Coconut oil, for conditioning. The scent is carried by the Parfum rather than by this.
Cetearyl Alcohol · PEG-20 Stearate · Carbomer
The emulsifier and thickener system — what makes it a lotion instead of a separated bottle of oil and water.
Always read the bottle. This is a cosmetic for external use. Formulations and packaging are updated from time to time, so the ingredients panel on the bottle you receive is the authoritative one. Patch test first if your skin is reactive, and stop use if irritation develops. Not medical advice. If you have a skin condition, a burn that blisters, a mole that is changing, are pregnant, or are treating a young child, please talk to a doctor. Full detail in our terms of sale.
